Hello, you’ve found LA MESCITA, a newsletter about natural wine!

I’m Rachel, the founder and editor of Pipette Magazine. This newsletter is for those curious about, or completely obsessed with, natural wine. It’s also the virtual home of my updates about writing workshops and events taking place in Italy.

You can sign up for free if you just want personal updates for me, but most of the fun stuff (in particular: interviews with women and non-binary movers and shakers in the natural wine world) will be for paid subscribers.

LA MESCITA is:

  • international in scope, with international city guides forthcoming

  • read by over 2000 people already

  • available in the form of archived posts on this website

  • all about natural wine

About me:

Rachel Signer is the founder and publisher of Pipette Magazine, an independent print magazine about natural wine, and the author of the book You Had Me At Pét-Nat: A Natural Wine-Soaked Memoir, which the New York Times called "An inviting coming-of-age story that, though it takes place in a world of back-to-the-earth farming, speaks to the universal yearning of anybody trying to find herself."

Signer's writing about natural wine has appeared in numerous publications both online and in print, including VICE, Vogue, and Wine Enthusiast. She holds a master's degree in cultural anthropology from The New School for Social Research. Originally from the U.S., Signer now lives in Australia where she made natural wine from 2018-2023 under the label Persephone/Cleopatra Wines. She is currently at work on a novel, and leads natural wine tours in Italy.
